Spin Specializes in Catering Portland Athletic Events

Steve Brown has been an avid member of Portland’s athletic scene for years and therefore athletic events hold a special place for Spin. With a perfect climate and ample local resources, why do many athletic events end with oranges, bananas and bagels?
One of our first major athletic events was the finish line meal for the 3000-4000 rider Portland Century. The menu designed by Porter Childs of Good Sport Promotion featured green salad, Dave’s Killer Bread, orzo pasta salad, fresh grilled asparagus, wild salmon and marionberry cobbler. We fired our grills and waited for the finishers to arrive. Wow! 3,000-4,000 riders can eat a lot after pedaling for 100 miles! We worked hard to keep the line moving and to see that everyone was fed. Many lessons were learned in the early days and we apply these lessons to every event we feed.
We work with promoters to see that each finish line meal is unique and properly themed to the event. We have learned production secrets that allow each participant to have a meal as fresh as the first finishers. Our balanced, consistent effort assures a relaxed event experience.
In addition to meal service, Spin events can assist with event permits, alcohol service, insurance requirements, OLCC licensed servers and food service permitted staff.
The market is moving towards better menus, there is a lot of competition between events.
